Meet Ellie Rome, Founder & Lead Facilitator

Ellie Rome is the founder and lead facilitator of Comfort Zone Retreats, dedicated to creating spaces where people can unplug from the noise, reconnect with themselves, and step into new possibilities.

A former chemical engineer turned functional nutrition counselor and emotional eating coach, after transforming her own health and life through holistic practices, she felt called to guide others in doing the same. Ellie left her career in chemical engineering and spent 9 years coaching clients on gut health, autoimmune healing, emotional eating, and food/sugar addiction recovery.

Ellie is a certified yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, and community builder who began hosting yoga, breathwork, and cold plunge events in Austin, TX in 2019. What started as small gatherings quickly grew into a thriving community of more than 4,000 people seeking connection, healing, and adventure.

Through Comfort Zone Retreats, Ellie blends her background in science, wellness, nutrition, and mindfulness with her passion for adventure, nature, and community.

Each retreat is designed to help participants reset their nervous system, explore the outdoors, cultivate meaningful habits, and engage in conscious conversations: all while surrounded by supportive people who are investing in their own growth.

Ellie believes in a holistic approach to wellness: one that integrates body, mind, and spirit, and she’s passionate about helping others build sustainable practices that ripple out into every area of life. Whether leading yoga on a beach in Kauai, hiking through Zion, or guiding a group breathwork session, her mission is to help people feel more alive, connected, and empowered.

What Past Participants Are Saying

"This retreat completely reset my nervous system and my life." "I came to Yosemite feeling burned out and disconnected from myself. Between the breathwork sessions that released years of stored tension, the hikes that reminded me how strong I actually am, and the deep conversations around the fire, I left feeling like a different person. Ellie and the team created such a safe container for transformation. Three months later, I'm still using the tools I learned, and the friendships I made feel like soul family. This wasn't just a retreat—it was a turning point."

Sarah M.
Denver, CO

"The combination of adventure and inner work is pure magic. Hiking beneath Yosemite's waterfalls and granite cliffs naturally opened something in me that years of therapy hadn't touched. The somatic breathwork was incredibly powerful, and having a licensed therapist and experienced guides supporting us made me feel safe to go deep. I processed grief I didn't even know I was carrying. If you're on the fence, just apply. This investment in yourself will pay dividends for years to come."

Michael T.
Austin, TX

"After a difficult divorce, I felt small and stuck. This retreat helped me remember who I am beneath all the pain and fear. The daily yoga and meditation grounded me, the hiking challenged me physically in the best way, and the group work helped me see my patterns clearly for the first time. What surprised me most was the community—I expected to feel vulnerable and uncomfortable, but instead I felt completely accepted. I left with clarity, confidence, and genuine friends who still check in on me months later."

Jennifer L.
Portland, OR

"I'm naturally adventure-oriented but terrible at slowing down and feeling my feelings. This retreat gave me both. The hikes were challenging and exhilarating—standing at the top of Vernal Falls was a spiritual experience. But it was the quieter moments that transformed me: the morning meditation in the sequoia grove, the parts work session where I finally understood my inner critic, the sound healing that made me cry in the best way. Ellie and the team are skilled, compassionate, and real. This is the reset I didn't know I desperately needed."
