Ellie Rome is the founder and lead facilitator of Comfort Zone Retreats, dedicated to creating spaces where people can unplug from the noise, reconnect with themselves, and step into new possibilities.
A former chemical engineer turned functional nutrition counselor and emotional eating coach, after transforming her own health and life through holistic practices, she felt called to guide others in doing the same. Ellie left her career in chemical engineering and spent 9 years coaching clients on gut health, autoimmune healing, emotional eating, and food/sugar addiction recovery.
Ellie is a certified yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, and community builder who began hosting yoga, breathwork, and cold plunge events in Austin, TX in 2019. What started as small gatherings quickly grew into a thriving community of more than 4,000 people seeking connection, healing, and adventure.
Through Comfort Zone Retreats, Ellie blends her background in science, wellness, nutrition, and mindfulness with her passion for adventure, nature, and community.
Each retreat is designed to help participants reset their nervous system, explore the outdoors, cultivate meaningful habits, and engage in conscious conversations: all while surrounded by supportive people who are investing in their own growth.
Ellie believes in a holistic approach to wellness: one that integrates body, mind, and spirit, and she’s passionate about helping others build sustainable practices that ripple out into every area of life. Whether leading yoga on a beach in Kauai, hiking through Zion, or guiding a group breathwork session, her mission is to help people feel more alive, connected, and empowered.
"I came feeling burned out and disconnected from myself. Between the breathwork sessions that released years of stored tension, the hikes that reminded me how strong I actually am, and the deep conversations around the fire, I left feeling like a different person. Ellie and the team created such a safe container for transformation. Three months later, I'm still using the tools I learned, and the friendships I made feel like soul family. This wasn't just a retreat—it was a turning point."
"Hiking through the Mountains naturally opened something in me that years of therapy hadn't touched. The somatic breathwork was incredibly powerful, and having a licensed therapist and experienced guides supporting us made me feel safe to go deep. I processed grief I didn't even know I was carrying. If you're on the fence, just apply. This investment in yourself will pay dividends for years to come."
"The daily yoga and meditation grounded me, the hiking challenged me physically in the best way, and the group work helped me see my patterns clearly for the first time. What surprised me most was the community—I expected to feel vulnerable and uncomfortable, but instead I felt completely accepted. I left with clarity, confidence, and genuine friends who still check in on me months later."
"The hikes were challenging and exhilarating—the views from the Flatirons were incredible. But it was the quieter moments that transformed me: the morning meditation with mountain views, the parts work session where I finally understood my inner critic, the sound healing that made me cry in the best way. Ellie and the team are skilled, compassionate, and real. This is the reset I didn't know I desperately needed."
This retreat is for growth-minded adults who are ready to invest in themselves and step outside their comfort zone. Whether you're navigating a transition, feeling stuck in old patterns, seeking deeper connection, or simply craving a reset, this experience is designed for you. Our participants range from their late 20s to 60s and come from all walks of life. What unites them is a willingness to be vulnerable, explore both inner and outer landscapes, and show up authentically. No previous hiking, yoga, or meditation experience is required—just an open heart and a curious mind.
The retreat begins and ends in Boulder, Colorado. Most participants fly into Denver International Airport (DEN), which is about 45 minutes from Boulder. We offer optional group transportation from the airport for an additional fee, and we'll help coordinate shared rides with other participants to make travel easy and affordable. If you're driving, we'll provide the exact address of our mountain home base upon registration. We recommend arriving the day before the retreat starts if possible, so you can settle in without travel stress.
All meals are included and thoughtfully prepared to keep you energized, grounded, and deeply nourished. Expect gut-friendly, low-inflammatory, gluten-free meals with vegetarian and vegan options available. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions including dairy-free, nut-free, and specific allergies. Simply let us know your needs on your application, and we'll make sure you're well-fed and well-cared for.
Yes! We want this experience to be accessible, so we offer flexible payment plans to fit your budget. You can choose to pay in full or split your investment into monthly installments. A deposit is required to secure your spot, and we'll work with you to create a payment schedule that feels supportive. Reach out to us directly, and we'll find a plan that works for you.
We intentionally keep our groups intimate, with 16-22 participants. This size allows for deep, meaningful connection while ensuring everyone receives personalized attention and support from our facilitation team. You'll have space to be seen, heard, and held throughout the experience—this isn't a retreat where you'll get lost in the crowd.
We'll send you a detailed packing list once you're registered, but here are the essentials: comfortable hiking shoes, layers for changing mountain weather, a reusable water bottle, a journal, swimwear for the hot tub and cold plunges, and an open heart. You won't need much—we provide yoga mats, meditation cushions, and all retreat materials. Remember, we encourage a technology detox, so consider leaving your laptop at home and setting up an auto-reply. This is your time to unplug and be fully present.

This is your invitation to step into adventure, release what no longer serves, and reconnect with your most authentic, courageous self
